METALLIC STRIP CONTINUOUS BUILDING-UP METHOD Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: continuous casting of metal for producing non-limited length articles for oil- and gas pipelines.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of building up predetermined thickness layer of melt metal on wall of water cooled mold, extraction of built-up layer of strip from crystallization zone, dressing strip, rolling it and coiling. Method is realized at using mold in the form of cylindrical drum submerged to melt metal in vessel with hollow semi-axles corresponding to rotation center of drum around its own axis. Several poles of electromagnets are introduced into built-up portion of mold at surface level. Winding of said electromagnets are arranged in staggered fashion on inner side of built-up portion. Said inner side is cooled by spraying water, evaporation of water from superheated surface and by direct contact of water with mold wall. In order to eliminate built-up of melt on lateral walls of molds the last are covered with refractory material layer heated at operation process by means of gas-air burners till temperature of melt in vessel or above it. Mechanical properties of strip material are increased by 1.5 - 2 times.

EFFECT: possibility for producing material of strip with dense fine-grain structure having improved mechanical properties.
