HOLE FORMING TOOL Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: horticulture. SUBSTANCE: hole forming tool has spade comprising blade made in the form of hollow regular truncated cone of 0.9-1.0 mm thickness. Small base of truncated cone is equipped with cutting edge extending along perimeter thereof, with ratio of cone height to large and small base diameters being 0.5:0.5:0.48. Tool has handles of equal length of about 0.8-1.0 m, which are rigidly fixed in holders arranged in symmetry and rigidly secured on outer diameter of tool blade upper edge. Supporting plank is positioned between handle holders and adapted for supporting user's foot, when user applies force to blade for penetration thereof into soil. Supporting plank is spaced from blade upper edge by distance equal to blade height. Wedge-shaped knife attached to lower surface of this plank has length equal to that of plank and height of blade equal to 40-50 mm for cutting and removal of extracted soil. Manual and foot forces are simultaneously applied by user to tool to provide for uniform distribution of muscular force between them. Construction of tool allows soil mass turning and throwing away processes to be avoided. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and reduced labor intensity. 2 dwg
