METHOD FOR PRODUCING FLEXIBLE ARTIFICIAL EYE LENSES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2198630 C2

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves poring liquid photohardened material for manufacturing flexible lenses into mould having upper and lower halves. The mould is irradiated with ultraviolet light. Photo material left unhardened is removed by dissolving it in appropriate solvent. Annealing is carried out, the eye lens is placed into isopropyl alcohol and dried. The lower half of the mould is filled with liquid photosensitive material composed of 2,2-dimetoxy-2-phenyl acetophenone in the amount of 0.34% by mass, 2,4-ditretbutyl orthoquinone - 0.0044% by mass, oligocarbonate methacrylate - 99.6556% by mass with upper meniscus being formed, covered with photo pattern unit treated with agent like natural wax reducing adhesion of polymer material to it and having ultraviolet light-transparent and nontransparent areas corresponding to haptic eye lens element images proximal end of which, when being aligned with the optical part, are set into it 1 mm far from the edge. Radiation is applied from photopattern device part all over the whole surface from external ultraviolet illumination source at 320-380 nm wavelength during time period found optimum for reproducing given geometric sizes of haptic eye lens elements. The photo pattern device is separated. Photo material left unhardened is removed by developing in appropriate solvent like isopropyl alcohol and dried to complete solvent removal. EFFECT: produced artificial eye lens with smooth edges; reduced risk of traumatic injuries. 8 dwg, 2 tbl
