FIELD: mineral well mining, particularly, methods of analysis of oil well state by diagnosis of annular space gas medium of producing wells over well length. SUBSTANCE: method may be used in determination of sound vibration velocity, more accurate determination of oil level in wells, detection of leaks, paraffin plugs and other defects in the form of nonorganic heterogeneities and for analysis of oil fractions along well profile. Method includes normalization of pulse acoustic signal at wellhead in annular space and reception of sounding pulse acoustic signal and its reflection from all heterogeneities of annular space in the form of echo signal s(t). After conversion of said signal, presence and position of nonorganic heterogeneities with respect to known position of organic heterogeneities over wellbore are detected and sound velocity in gas of annular space is determined. Additionally determined by claimed formulas are characteristics of sounding signal s0(t) with consideration of all its reflections. Then pulse characteristic h(t) of annular space is determined presenting time distribution of organic and nonorganic heterogeneities in annular space by said relationship. Time intervals between manifestation of reflections of neighboring heterogeneities are determined on pulse characteristic of producing well annular space h(t). Distribution of sound velocity over wellbore of producing well is determined. Diagnosis of annular space state is carried out by depth of fluid location in annular space, by spatial position of sections with high and low acoustic density of gas with consideration of variation of sound velocity distribution and by position of nonorganic spatial heterogeneities. Invention also deals with design of device for method embodiment. EFFECT: provision of diagnosis of state of annular space gas medium of oil producing wells along their profile in composition of tubing string from pipes of variable length and diagnosis of sound velocity distribution in gas medium over well length. 6 cl, 10 dwg, 6 tbl
