FIELD: water cleaning devices. SUBSTANCE: device has housing filled with small balls which are tightly compacted. Some layers are coated with silica gel. Height of layer of balls coated with silica gel is equal to diameter of passage and is equal to two heights of layers of balls not coated with silica gel. Thickness of layer of silica gel is found from the following relationship where Re = 100 is critical Reynolds number, V is kinetic viscosity of water; ε is porosity, U0 is flow rate of liquid at ratio of passage diameter to ball diameter no less than 10. Balls coated with silica gel adsorb organic and inorganic admixtures and balls not coated with silica gel adsorb various gels which are always present both in tap water and in distilled water. Such fill increases service life of device irrespective of degree of contamination of water to be treated. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
