FIELD: wire electrodes for electro-erosion cutting. SUBSTANCE: wire electrode for electro-erosion cutting includes electrically conductive core sensing tension effort and coating to be worn at electric erosion working and having inner layer of uniform alloy designed for high-speed cutting and outer layer designed for finish cutting and containing zinc in quantity exceeding 80%. Thickness of outer layer of coating may consist up to 1/5 of layer thickness of remaining part of coating. Zinc content in outer layer may be equal to 100% and zinc content in inner layer may be in range 37-60 mas. % of zinc. In description of invention method for making electrode is also given.
