FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spark cutting, particularly, to wire electrode 1 for spark cutting. Wire electrode 1 comprises core 2 consisting of over 50 wt % of crystalline pure aluminium and/or one or several aluminium alloys and core outer layer 3 including copper, zinc and/or copper-zinc alloy. Core area relates the entire area of wire electrode 1 makes 60-95% over electrode length.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of wire erosion, decreased weight of reel whereon wire is wound.
