FIELD: cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for forming a microtexture on the surface of a cutting plate made of dielectric ceramics by electroerosive machining. An electrically conductive coating is applied to the surface of said cutting insert, and subsequent electroerosive processing is carried out to obtain a texture on areas of said cutting plate that wear out during operation by exposing it to pulsed electric discharges that occur between the electrically conductive coating of said cutting plate and the tool electrode. As an electrically conductive coating, an electrically conductive thermally stable coating is applied to the surface of the mentioned cutting plate by vacuum magnetron sputtering of a sintered target containing aluminium, chromium, titanium, niobium and silicon, the particles of which, when interacting with the reaction gas-nitrogen in the form of a film (AlCrTiNbSi)N, are deposited on the surface of the mentioned cutting plate. Then, on the opposite cutting edges of said plate with an electrically conductive coating, electroerosive machining is performed by cutting longitudinal micro-marks using a brass wire electrode-tool in a dielectric medium in the form of deionized water containing an additive of electrically conductive fine powder in the form of titanium oxide particles.
EFFECT: increased material removal rate, reduced time of electroerosive machining and surface roughness during microtexturing of said cutting inserts.
