FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: tertiary alpha-acetylene diols suitable for use as intermediates in synthesis of varnishes, glues, flotation reagents, corrosion inhibitors, fragrance and therapeutic substances are prepared by reaction of ketones with general formula R-CO-R', where R and R' represent alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkoxy, furyl, or piperidyl, with acetylene in presence of lump potassium hydroxide at KOH/ketone α- molar ratio, applying stirring at 15-42 C and using partial acetylene overpressure 0.1-3.0 atm, reaction mixture residing in flow-type reactor for 3 to 30 min in solvent selected from hydrocarbons, ethers, and their mixture with each other or with amides at molar ratio solvent to ketone (4-8):1. Resulting diol-alkali complex is then precipitated and hydrolyzed, whereas solvent is returned into reactor. EFFECT: increased selectivity and intensity of process. 10 cl, 7 tbl, 7 ex
