SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing tertiary acetylene alcohols - alkylaryl(hetaryl)ethynyl carbinols of general formula , where R¹=Aryl, HetAryl; R²=H, Alkyl, which are used in producing isoprenoids, carotenoids, vitamins A and E, floral and aromatic compositions, anti-mite agents, herbicides, corrosion inhibitors, nonionic surfactants (sulphinols) and substituted indenes. The method involves reaction of alkylaryl(hetaryl)ketones with acetylene at atmospheric pressure in the presence of a strong base in dimethylsulphoxide solution. The process is carried out in a homogeneous catalyst system which is obtained by pre-heating hydrated potassium hydroxide, ethanol and dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) in molar ratio KOH×0.5H₂O:EtOH:DMSO equal to 0.5-2.0:1.0-2.0:6.0-8.0, at temperature of 100-120°C for 0.5-1.0 hours.

EFFECT: invention improves safety of the process, fundamentally simplifies implementation, reduces the amount of aggressive and hard-to-recycle wastes.
