SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of 2-phenyl-2-methylaminoethoxy-1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2,2,1] -heptane of the formula (I) , its optically active isomers and pharmaceutically acceptable salts that are able for selective binding with 5-HT_2C-receptors in pharmaceutical compositions eliciting anxiolytic effect. Indicated compounds are synthesized by demethylation of compound of the formula (II) by reaction with Hlg-COOR¹ where Hlg means halogen atom; R¹ means alkyl to yield compound of the formula (V) that is treated with a base or by removal of protective group R from compound of the formula (III) and if necessary by separation of obtained racemate for optical isomers and/or by conversion to pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a base is isolated from salt. Pharmaceutical composition comprises above indicated compounds with suitable inert solid or liquid filling agents or accessory agents.
