FIELD: antibiotics, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: erythromycin A oxime hydrochloride (I) is synthesized by oximylation of erythromycin A (II) in aliphatic alcohol medium at temperature from 50 C to 80 C by effect of a mixture of hydroxylamine hydrochloride and hydroxylamine. Hydroxylamine is used as an aqueous solution and ratio of reagents is from 1 to 2 moles of hydroxylamine hydrochloride and from 2.5 to 4.5 moles of hydroxylamine per 1 mole of erythromycin A.
