FIELD: metallurgy of steel; production of strip carbon steel for shaping. SUBSTANCE: proposed strip carbon steel includes the following components, mass-%: carbon, 0.14 to 0.18; manganese, 0.80 to 0.95; silicon, up to 0.15; phosphorus, up to 0.028; sulfur, up to 0.04; chromium, nickel, copper, up to 0.3 each; arsenic, up to 0.08 and iron being the remainder; magnitudes of mechanical characteristics are equal to: σв=420 to 500 MPa, σт=280 to 350 Mpa, σ5 no less than 24% and σт/σв ratio=0.67 to 0.70. EFFECT: reduced consumption of metal; increased yield due to avoidance of cracking in shaping. 1 ex
