FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying several webs having one direction of fibrous members oriented in different directions onto one another; interconnecting webs applied onto one another; manufacturing at least one web with unidirectionally oriented fibrous members by distributing at least one yarn so as to obtain web of substantially uniform thickness of at least 5 cm and surface density not exceeding 300 g/cu.cm; imparting coherence to web to perform various operations for aligning it with another web having unidirectionally oriented fibrous members. Coherent fibrous web is formed by expanding butt-joined tapes having unidirectionally oriented fibrous members and obtained through expanding of yarn having at least 12,000 fibrous members. Web has surface density not in the excess of 300 g/cu.cm and width of at least 5 cm. Fibrous fabric of multiple-oriented webs has several webs with unidirectionally oriented fibrous members, with webs being applied onto one another and joined. Machine has several weft insertion apparatuses, each having device for feeding weft insertion apparatus to continuous web having unidirectional fibrous members, gripping head for gripping web free end, and device adapted for laying sequential portions in parallel with transverse direction to define predetermined angle with advancement direction and equipped with gripping head drive. Method and apparatus may be used for producing reinforcement layers for carcass making part of composite articles. EFFECT: reduced production costs, provision for forming deformable fabric with smooth surface free of holes and rough portions and wider operational capabilities. 77 cl, 27 dwg, 1 tbl
