FIELD: electrical engineering; metal-halide lamps. SUBSTANCE: metal-halide lamp generating rays in wavelengths ranging between 350 and 450 nm has optically transparent torch accommodating hermetically sealed electrodes and filled with at least inert gas, helium, and inactive material halides. Novelty is that additionally introduced in lamp torch is iron, helium and iron being introduced in the form of alloy with helium content of 30 to 80%, ingredients being taken in following proportion, mc-mole/cu. cm: iron- helium alloy, 0.1-2.0 inactive metal halides, 0.15-3.0; inert gas pressure is 1.33 to 80.0 kPa. In addition lamp torch is doped with additives designed to provide lead halides for torch in the amount of 0.05 to 4.0 mc-mole/cu. cm. Mercury is also introduced in lamp torch in the amount of 0.2 to 15.0 mc-mole/cu. cm. EFFECT: enhanced yield of lamps. 3 cl, 1 tbl
