FIELD: electronic engineering; sterilizing medical instruments. SUBSTANCE: electron gun has coaxially arranged cathode, first and second focusing electrodes, and rectangular-section metal tube that functions as case and has electron exit window at butt-end covered with foil connected through vacuum-tight joint to supporting base such as that in the form of slotted grate. Gun cathode in made in the form of elementary ribbon cathodes disposed in series along common axis parallel to longitudinal axis of electron exit window. Each focusing electrode is made in the form of rectangular-section hollow metal tube with hole at butt end; second-electrode hole size is close to cathode size. Both focusing electrodes are placed at cathode potential. Gun is characterized in better uniformity of electron flux current density distribution on cathode and window. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and operating efficiency of electron gun. 5 cl, 2 dwg
