FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely rolled stock production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating metal, preliminarily forming shape having several parts mutually joined by bridge; separating formed shape by parts at breaking bridge. Method is realized by using disc cutters. Thickness of separated bridge does not exceed value calculated according to given formula , where hmax is maximum thickness value of separated bridge; K1 is coefficient taking into account hardness of cut material; K2 is coefficient taking into account increased effort at blunting cutters; K3 is coefficient taking into account increased lateral gap between cutters at their long-period usage; σs is real deformation resistance of cut material; εn is notching coefficient; Qmax is maximum lengthwise effort created by rolling rolls of stand arranged in front of non-driven disc cutters; n is quantity of separated bridges. EFFECT: possibility for separating large-thickness bridges, enhanced quality of separated zones, increased strength of used tool, enlarged manufacturing possibilities of method. 2 dwg, 1 ex
