FIELD: printing. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of transfer of image onto tape medium. Method comes to transfer of paint from heat-transfer tape onto label tape receiving the image. Printing is carried out in two steps from one roller of heat-transfer tape. At first step printing is done on one half of width of heat-transfer tape wound off from roller installed on unwinding shaft. Then wound up roller with prints on one half of tape width is removed from winding shaft, is turned over through 180^°, and is installed again on unwinding shaft, and at second step, printing is carried out on other half of tape width, with roller being unwound in opposite direction. Heat- transfer printer contains heat-transfer tape displacement unit including set of replaceable bushings providing two-step printing from one roller of heat transfer tape. Set includes re-locating bushing fixed on winding shaft and made for re- placing onto unwinding shaft by means of additional adapter bushing. Said unwinding shaft is provided with disk brake bushing. EFFECT: reduced consumption of heat-transfer tape owing to improved design of heat transfer tape feed unit. 3 cl, 5 dwg
