FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: cis-1,4- polybutadiene is prepared by polymerization of 1,4-butadiene in hydrocarbon solvent and in presence of catalytic system based on mixed iodinecontaining titanium halide and trialkylaluminium. Polymerization process is stopped by adding antioxidant and washing is performed using, in quantities between 0.001 and 1.0% of the weight of rubber, an additional reagent or its mixture, optionally with alkali solution, promoting recovery of iodine from polymerizate and being selected from following group of compounds: alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride of formula [R(CH3)2-CH2C6H5)N]+CI-, wherein R represents mixture of linear C10-C18 or C12-C14 alkyl groups; alkanolamines (mono-, di-, and triethanolamine); alkylbenzenesulfonate RC6H4SO3Me (where R is mixture of linear or branched C9-C25 alkyl groups and Me denores K or Na); alkanesulfonate RSO3Na, (R is mixture of linear or branched C9-C25 alkyl groups), and neonol.
