FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves transversely cutting periosteum on external surface of ribs adjacent to the surgical wound. The edges are displaced aside and transcostal canals are drilled. Grooves are drawn downwards from the canals in the cortical layers in the superior rib and upwards in the inferior rib. Threads are drawn through the canals, laid in the grooves and tied in knots in extrapleural way at the intercostal level. The periosteum is returned to its initial place and the edges are connected with catgut sutures insulating the threads from the surrounding tissues. The ends of transected rib are subperiosteally selected and drilled. The holes are complemented with longitudinal cortical grooves. Thread is conducted and its ends are tied on the internal rib surface in extrapleural way. Periosteum edges are sutured above the thread. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; prevented thoracic soft tissues from being injured. 3 dwg
