METHOD FOR TREATING INFLAMMATION-FREE SYNOVITIS OF KNEE JOINTS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: in back lying position one should bandage inferior limb with elastic bandage from metatarsal-phalangeal joints of foot up to the upper third of shin. In the same position one should carry out successive dynamic contraction of shin muscles due to flexing and unbending of foot at 10-12 exercises/min. Next minute it is necessary to conduct isometric tension of femoral quadriceps (10-12 contractions). Elastic fixation along with successive exercises should last for 10 min. Then, by not removing the first bandage, one should carry out elastic bandage of limb from the upper third of shin up to the border of middle and upper third of thigh. The first bandage is removed to continue the same successive exercises for muscles of shin and thigh at the same mode for 10 min. After finishing procedure, elastic bandage should be removed, and knee joint is fixed with elastic knee guard. The mentioned procedure is repeated 6-7 times daily. Application of stimulation of natural lymphatic drainage of knee joint in case of synovitis due to the method enables to decrease the terms of interrupting synovitis without articular punction and introduction of corticosteroids.
