FIELD: metallurgy, possibly manufacture of rolls of shape bending and tube shaping mills. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mechanically working cast blank of hypereutectoid chrome-molybdenum steel and strengthening roll by heat treatment; said steel contains, % : carbon, 2-2.2; silicone, 0.10-0.40; manganese, 0.15-0.45; chrome, 11.0-12.5; tungsten, 0.50-0.80; vanadium, 0.15-0.30; molybdenum, 0.60-0.90; sulfur, not more 0.030; phosphorus, not more 0.030; iron, the balance; performing heat treatment by heating roll until temperature 850-900 C; soaking it until equalizing temperature in cross section; cooling it at rate 5-45 C/min; then tempering roll at temperature 180-400 C. Before mechanical working cast blank is annealed at 850 -900 C for 10-20 h. EFFECT: enhanced strength of roll, improved quality of bent shapes and shaped tubes. 2 cl, 2 tbl
