METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ENVIRONMENTALLY ORIENTED DESTRUCTION OF EXTREMELY TOXIC BURNING MATERIALS Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2203452 C2

FIELD: environment control; chemical technology for destruction of toxic and extremely toxic compounds and their ingredients. SUBSTANCE: method for destruction of extremely toxic organic materials including elementary organic ones mixed up with fuel and oxidant harmful for nature and human beings under conditions of high- temperature burning of gas phases at high pressure in two-chamber flow reactor includes supply of fuel, oxidant, and extremely toxic material to first chamber, burning at maximal temperature within first chamber at oxidant-to-fuel-mixture ratio corresponding to oxidant excess ratio close to unity, and discharge of combustion products at sonic speed through sudden-expansion channel to second chamber. Feeding extremely toxic material through cooled sudden-expansion channel is commenced only upon setting steady state pressure and temperature in first combustion chamber. Combustion products are conveyed to second chamber which is heat-insulated and is supplied with additional amount of oxidant through special inlets. Combustion products are discharged from second chamber through nozzle at sonic speed, then supply of extremely toxic material is ceased whereupon fuel feed is stopped while oxidant is still fed for 2-3 s until process is completed. Device implementing this method is described. EFFECT: improved environmental friendliness of process, facilitated procedure, enhanced capacity. 3 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
