FIELD: chemical mechanical engineering; separation of liquid heterogeneous systems through filtration; chemical, food- processing and allied industries. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes determination of difference in volumes of suspension fed to filter and filtrate discharged from it , comparison of this difference with parameter defining required thickness of filter cake and in case of obtaining required magnitude, subsequent technological procedure is started. Plant proposed for realization of this method includes press filter with filtering plates equipped with filtering baffles for holding filter cake. In compressing the filtering chamber, filtering plates form suspension supply collector and filtrate discharge collectors. Suspension supply pipe lines and filtrate discharge pipe lines are provided with volumetric flow meters whose outlets are connected to inlet of subtracting unit whose output is connected to comparison unit together with parameter setter. Output of comparison unit is connected to input of programmer which is used for control of suspension supply valve. In the course of filtration present magnitudes of volumes of supplied suspension and discharged filtrate are supplied from flow meters to subtracting unit. Signal corresponding to difference of said volumes is furnished to comparison unit together with parameter introduced by means of setter. As soon as preset magnitude has been obtained, signal for programmer for shift to subsequent operation is formed. Programmer acts on suspension supply valve closing it and discontinuing filtration procedure. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and safety. 3 cl, 2 dwg
