FIELD: metallurgy, applicable in manufacture of strips from aluminum alloy. SUBSTANCE: method of strip manufacture uses aluminum alloy containing, wt.%: Fe, 0.15-1.5; and/or Mn, 0.35-1.9; with Fe+Mn, < 2.5, and in case of necessity the following elements in amount Si < 0.8%; Mg < 0.2%; Cu < 0.2%; Cr < 0.2%; Zn < 0.2%, and other elements each in amount of < 0.1%, and in total, < 0.3%. Method includes continuous casting of strips 1 to 5 mm thick between two cooled rollers surrounded with metal shells. Pressure applied to rollers during casting, expressed in tons per meter of strip width, is less than 300+2000 e, where e is thickness of cast strip in mm. Strips 1-5 mm thick from alloy of specified composition produced by continuous casting is characterized by product of limit of elasticity R0.2, MPa, by elongation at rupture A, %, and equaling above 2500, preferably, 3000. Invention provides for manufacture of strips with mechanical strength exceeding that of strips of similar composition produced by traditional casting, or by conditions casting of thick strips. Manufactured strips are also characterized by good deformability. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 19, cl, 1 dwg, 6 tbl, 5 ex
