FIELD: powder metallurgy, production of ductile and chemically active metals, particularly, calcium. SUBSTANCE: method includes grinding of calcium chips on rotating rotor, removal of powder from crushing zone through hole of rotor embracing sieve. Used in method is calcium chips whose width is not more of average particle size of main fraction of produced powder, and whose thickness is smaller than minimal size of particles of produced powder main fraction. Grinding is effected by flat hammers with knife sharpened edges. Flat hammers are secured to rotating rotor. Powder is removed through sieve meshes whose diameters exceed average size of particles of produced powder main fraction. Produced powder is classified by fractions. EFFECT: increased process efficiency and reduced fire and explosion hazards.
