FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more particularly preparation of exothermal mixtures for melting and alloying steel during out of furnace treatment of steel. SUBSTANCE: exothermal mixture comprises iron oxide, metal reducing agent, alloying and slag-forming components. Metal reducing agent is metallic calcium, and alloying and slag- forming components are calcium salts of metals such as CaaMebFc, wherein Me is Mo, W, Cr, Nb, Ta,V, Zr, Ti; a,b,c are stoichiometric coefficients. Mixture is useful as filler for powder wire. EFFECT: controllable heating of steel melt during out-of-furnace treatment, no contamination of steel when treated with metal reducing agent, greater assimilation of alloying elements and lower manufacturing cost of steel being melted. 2 cl, 1 tbl
