FIELD: metallurgy; heat treatment and machining of blanks having cast coarse-grained laminated microstructure and made from titanium or its alloys. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes obtaining of microstructure at required sizes of grains by means of plastic deformation performed at one or several stages depending on size of grains in starting blank and required size of blank, temperature and rate of procedure selected for transformation of structure in the course of dynamic recrystallization; stage is performed at several passes for complete transformation of structure; during treatment of axisymmetric blank, layers specified in volume are treated in passes making use of complex loading which includes torsion at least at first pass of first stage as single or primary component and compression and tension at subsequent passes or combination of compression or tension with torsion; treatment is performed under isothermal or quasi-isothermal conditions. Proposed method ensures grinding of microstructure to size of grains of 5.0 to 10.0 mkm and lesser in large-sized blanks exceeding 200 kg in mass.
