FIELD: plastic metal working, namely manufacture of blanks with normalized physical-mechanical properties, particularly due to creation of fine-grain structure of blanks such as rods, bars and other elongated pieces. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of deforming at least portion of blank of metal or alloy according to predetermined schedule, particularly reducing cross section of blank, mainly of elongated rod. Reduction is performed by means of tool that may be moved along and across blank axis for rolling around rod surface, for example by means of roller, and blank is supported at least by means of two supports. Predetermined deformation degree is set with use of one deformation schedule realized at twisting, upsetting or tensioning blank by means of said two supports that may act upon blank with efforts corresponding to deformation schedule at maintaining temperature of deformed portion necessary for receiving predetermined structure and physical-mechanical properties of blank. EFFECT: effective creation of necessary structure including microcrystalline structure of elongated large-diameter rods for providing their desired physical-mechanical properties. 24 cl, 6 exp, 1 tbl, 6 dwg
