FIELD: space engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric-jet plants and it can be used in stationary plasma-jet engines and engines with anode layer, and in plasma accelerators in sphere of applied usage. Proposed plasma-jet engine with closed drift of electrons contains at least one cathode-compensator, discharge chamber with anode-gas distributor and magnetic system with magnetic circuit, inner and outer magnetic poles, outer and inner sources of magnetizing force, outer sources being equally spaced and made so that their cross section is oblong, with maximum cross size parallel to tangential line of discharge chamber. Cross sections of outer sources of magnetizing force can be either rectilinear or elliptic or made in form of ring-shaped segment. EFFECT: increased mechanical strength of magnetic system and azimuthal uniformity of magnetic field. 4 cl, 4 dwg
