FIELD: lighting engineering; fluorescent lamp manufacture. SUBSTANCE: method for introducing mercury into fluorescent lamp by equalizing pressure in reservoirs followed by filling evacuated lamp under action of pressure difference involves heating of liquid mercury for its conversion to vapor state in heated reservoir followed by filling surge tank with mercury vapors. Pressure exceeding specified value is reduced by means of pressure controller followed by condensing mercury vapors in condenser and conveying liquid mercury to heated reservoir. Device implementing this method has system for converting liquid mercury to vapor that incorporates reservoir equipped with heater, as well as mercury vapor condenser and pressure controller connected in series with this reservoir. Pipeline shutoff valve is inserted between reservoir and surge tank and valves are also inserted between evacuated lamp and reservoir. One more valve is placed between device and evacuation system.
