FIELD: foundry. SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of mounting casting mold on base and rotating it by 180 degrees around horizontal axis; filling casting vessel whose open part is directed upwards with melt; joining casting vessel filled with melt in fluid-tight fashion with casting mold whose casting side is turned downwards; rotating vessel together with casting mold by 180 decrees around horizontal axis for providing melt penetration into mold; removing vessel from casting mold. Apparatus for performing the process includes mechanism for moving casting vessel to position for joining it with casting mold and for removing turned vessel from mold. Several casting apparatuses may be assembled to casting plant. Apparatuses are moved back and forth between zone of casting plant near melting furnace and zone for solidifying castings. In variants of invention it is possible to use different arrangement of melting furnace and apparatuses for casting. EFFECT: enhanced operating efficiency. 22 cl, 11 dwg
