FIELD: ultrasonic or other inspection of long-length pipe-lines, detection and identification of defects in oil, oil product and gas mains. SUBSTANCE: avoidance of overflow of data storage circuits in case of slow movement of tool, prevention of loss of data across sections of pipe-lines which extent exceeds resolution of tool-flaw detector in direction of pipe-line axis, exception of error in evaluation of tool velocity in case of malfunction in operation of distance meter are achieved thanks to passage of inspection tool carrying test transmitters, meters of covered distance, aids measuring processing and storing measurement data and to periodic access to test transmitters. Pulses which number is directly proportional to distance measured by meter are received from each meter of covered distance. Time interval between two last pulses is determined per each distance meter after reception of pulse from any distance meter. Minimal time interval among specified time intervals is found, time interval from preceding access to test transmitter to next retrieval to test transmitter is established as function of found minimal time interval and access to test transmitter is realized after mentioned time interval after previous access.
