FIELD: mobile communication systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed system built around principles other than those used for cellular system which enables reducing its cost by about 1.5 times has functionally coupled ground- based main and additional base stations, mobile stations, repeaters, switching and radio pieces of equipment including transceiving devices. Main base stations are disposed in centers of grid that divides terrain into equal-size square cells with additional base stations installed in vicinity of their centers; coverage zones of main base stations are not intersecting on purpose. Main base stations, additional base stations, and repeaters related to additional base stations are disposed for joint complete coverage of terrain. Transceiving devices of main base stations operate at frequencies of at least one group of duplex frequencies. Transceiving devices of additional base stations servicing grid bands in relatively perpendicular directions jointly with repeaters operate at frequencies of at least two groups of duplex frequencies. Neither of three groups includes same frequencies. EFFECT: reduced manufacturing cost and maintenance charges. 1 cl, 4 dwg
