FIELD: shipbuilding; ice-breakers. SUBSTANCE: passage for motion of wide ship through ice field is ensured by ice-breaker having rather narrow hull. Proposed ice-breaker has two controllable engine plants mounted at opposite ends of hull for motion of ice-breaker through ice field at considerable angle relative to its keel line; channel is opened by one passage of ice-breaker and its width considerably exceeds breadth of ice-breaker on waterline.
