FIELD: polymerization processes and polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a method for preparation of conducting polymer layers consisting of polymer with high level of conjugated multiple bonds by way of electric discharge-assisted vapor-phase polymerization of monomer, in particular organic compound selected from series of aromatic quinones containing at least two condensed nuclei and at least one amino or hydroxyl function. Polymerization is conducted for 5 to 120 min in constant current discharge (5-14 mA) at 150 to 500 C and subatmospheric pressure (0.1 to 500 Pa) resulting in formation of cathode-covering layers. Conductivity of layer 1 to 10 mcm thick is at least 10-5 ohm-1 cm-1. Invention allows preparation of optimal-thickness high-conductivity layers with homogenous and defectless structure of surface, which are resistant to all kinds of effects. EFFECT: ensured environmental safety, avoided utilization of expensive and toxic monomers and gas carrier, accelerated process under mild conditions, and simplified equipment. 7 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl, 5 ex
