FIELD: processing rubber waste, rubber crumb of worn tires, in particular.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes treatment of ground wastes by organic solvent containing monomer or oligomer and peroxide, after which organic solvent is removed for obtaining dry rubber crumb. Waste vulcanized rubber is used in form of crumb obtained at grinding the worn mechanical rubber goods, automobile tires in particular containing isoprene or natural rubber or their mixture. Rubber crumb and organic solvent are used in ratio of from 1:1 to 1:4; amount of monomer or oligomer and peroxide contained in solvent ranges from 5 to 35 parts by mass and from 1 to 10 parts by mass per 10 parts by mass of rubber crumb, respectively. Monomer or oligomer is selected from monomer or oligomer series polymerizing by radical mechanism. Half-decay temperature of peroxide used in this method ranges from 70°C to 200°C; use is made of dicumyl peroxide, peroxymone F-40 and cumyl hydroperoxide. Material is made by molding at combination of process parameters: temperature-time of holding under pressure sufficient for degree of conversion of monomer or oligomer from 80 to 95%. Thickness of material ranges from 1 to 500 mm. It may be used for making minor parts of vibration-absorbing slabs and heat-insulating plates.

EFFECT: facilitated process of activation; possibility of obtaining material whose width has wide range at improved mechanical characteristics.
