FIELD: coloring of anodized aluminum; applicable in instrumentation and mechanical engineering and in other industries for production on surfaces of articles from aluminum and its alloys of black-white or color images in form of inscriptions, drawings, pictures, etc. SUBSTANCE: method includes anodizing of articles from aluminum and its alloys, laying of image on carrier onto anodized surface, heating, holding at elevated temperatures, filling. Image on carrier is made in mirror presentation with use of dyes liable to sublimation at temperatures of 120-220 C with molecules or particles sizing not in excess of 0.02 mcm and whose affinity to anodized surface is higher than that to carrier material. Heating and holding at elevated temperatures are carried out with carrier pressed down to anodized surface with force up to 0.5 kg/sq. cm. Technical result of invention consists in production of contrast high-quality color images on aluminum and its alloys, possessing high light fastness and resistance to organic solvents.
