FIELD: electrical engineering; high-voltage switchgear grounding electrodes for high-voltage power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: grounding electrode has metal bowl filled with insulating gas that accommodates current conductor carrying fixed contact member; hollow movable contact member being coaxial to them is coupled with operating mechanism through piston disposed inside pufferbreaker whose case is provided with nozzle and shield. Movable contact member is installed inside pufferbreaker and a number of holes are made on its side surface to provide communication between its inner space and pufferbreaker space above piston throughout entire motion of contact member. Pufferbreaker nozzle is fixed in position and its butt-end protrudes above shield surface towards fixed contact member. Pufferbreaker case has annular channel that provides communication between space under piston and nozzle after movable contact has passed through this channel. EFFECT: enhanced reliability due to reduced movable masses. 5 cl, 3 dwg
