FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ultradispersed powders of metals, their oxides, alloys for use as modifiers, in antifriction additives for autoresins and in similar spheres of application. According to proposed method including evaporation of powder- like material in high-temperature zone of evaporator with vortex stabilized electric arc plasma, condensing and entrapping of powders, stabilization of electric arc plasma is provided by two opposite vortex gas flows moving with possibility of catching non-evaporated particles of powder settling on evaporator wall for returning the particles into high temperature zone of evaporator. Proposed device contains evaporator made in form of electric arc chamber with electrodes, powder feed unit, gas feed unit which forms vortex flow, condensing chamber, filter for entrapping ultradispersed powders, hopper entrapping non-evaporated particles and hopper-accumulator of ultradispersed powders. According to invention device is furnished with second gas feed unit to form opposite vortex flow arranged in lower part of evaporator, while no evaporated particles entrapping hopper is mated with lower part of condensing chamber.
