DVICE FOR CORRECTION AND STABILIZATION OF DEFORMITIES OF VERTEBRAL COLUMN AND CHEST AND METHOD OF DEVICE APPLICATION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, particularly, orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: device has supporting arc, supporting plates and pusher with ear and free threaded end. Supporting plates are interconnected by means of hinge whose axle has ear of pusher. Pusher free threaded end is installed for axial displacement and fixation in middle part of supporting arc. Device is provided with hooks, bony rods and wires with rests. Bony rods are installed in one supporting plate hinged to supporting arc end. Hooks have threaded holes and located for rotation on ends of threaded rods fixed to other supporting plate whose periphery part carries spring-loaded bar installed for longitudinal motions. Said bar is hinged to plate having holes in which threaded bars with cars are installed for axial and rotational motions and fixation. Installed in holes of said bars with ears are pullers for wires with rests. Method of device application consists in resection of costal humpback at level of concave deformation of chest with microincision to ribs. Wires with rests are conducted through ribs from below upward up to rest and their free ends are fastened to said pullers installed on threaded bars. Hooks are brought from below upward behind vertebral arches and secured to said arches by one ends of threaded rods by their rotation. The other ends of threaded rods by their rotation. The other ends of threaded rods are fixed to supporting plate. Correction is started in a day by increasing angle between supporting plates by displacing the pusher, and additionally by synchronous traction of ribs by pullers with help of wires with rests.
