FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: nickel(II) hydroxide useful in enamel and glass manufacture area and in synthesis of other nickel compounds is precipitated by introducing crystalline nickel sulfate hexa- or heptahydrate into 15-30% sodium hydroxide solution at 65-80 C until solids-to-liquid ratio 1:(4-7) is attained. Resulting pulp is treated in tower in countercurrent mode at linear ascendant flow velocity 5-8 m/h and temperature 45-70 C, while imposing pulsation perturbations successively first with 3-5% alkali solution and then with water. Nickel(II) hydroxide precipitate is pressed on centrifuge, dried in ultrahigh frequency field, and screened. Thus obtained nickel(II) hydroxide shows elevated electrochemical activity, which enables 10-15% raise in capacity of accumulators manufactured using now produced nickel(II) hydroxide. Product contains no barium and cobalt macroimpurities and has low contents of iron, copper, and silicon sulfates and chloride.
