FIELD: technology and equipment for gas nitriding in catalyst fluidized bed for low- and high-temperature hardening of surfaces of steels and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method includes placing of article to be treated into heated crucible, supply of nitrogen-containing gas through gas-distributing device located in crucible bottom part, and creation of fluidized bed round treated article, discharge of exhaust gases through channel in crucible cover and subsequent complete combustion of exhaust gases. Catalyst is placed into crucible. Depth of nitriding layer is regulated by varying of excessive pressure of nitrogen-containing gas by diaphragming of channel in crucible cover. Nitriding temperature of articles from different alloys is maintained by automatic control within 450-1200C. Technical result of invention consists in development of improved ecologically clean method of low- and high-temperature hardening of surface of metal materials by designing of perfect plant for nitriding.
