FIELD: precision instrumentation engineering; manufacture and operation of electrostatic gyroscopes with spherical rotors. SUBSTANCE: proposed gyroscope has hermetic housing made from current-conducting material, spherical rotor with pattern on its surface for optical attitude sensor, electrostatic mount for rotor including system of electrodes insulated from housing, system for control of position of rotor relative to electrodes and high-voltage source whose common terminal (terminal with zero potential) is connected to housing, current-conducting limiting stops mounted on inner surface of housing through electric insulator and interconnected by means of electric conductor, optical attitude sensor, rotor acceleration system, rotor angular oscillation dampening system; stops are connected to housing through resistor R whose magnitude is found from relationship R>T/C, where C is capacity between electrodes and rotor of gyroscope; T is time from moment of connection of high-voltage source till moment of separation of rotor from stops.
