METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING AND CHECKING VEHICLE EXTERNAL LIGHTS (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2208773 C1

FIELD: transport engineering; lighting systems. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, optical chamber with measuring unit is orientated in direction of vehicle running by scattering laser radiation in one plane, registration of laser radiation traces perpendicular to optical axis of optical chamber lens and symmetrical points of vehicle body. Then said optical chamber is orientated relative to optical axis of lighting device to be checked, light beam of lighting device is projected through chamber lens onto marked out screen and mismatch of position of light distribution, thus formed, relative to normal position is found, mismatch is eliminated and characteristics of lighting device are measured. Orientation of optical chamber relative to optical axis of lighting device under checking is provided by signaling out central beam of higher intensity from scattered laser radiation as compared with peripheral beam, and aligning its direction with direction of optical axis of chamber lens and center of lens of lighting device under checking. Orientation of optical chamber relative to direction of vehicle movement is carried out to trace of peripheral beam of scattered laser radiation. In proposed device for adjusting and checking vehicle external lights, diverging lens system is made in form of at least two optically transparent cylindrical lenses whose generatrices are parallel to vertical plane passing through optical axis of chamber lens and are installed with clearance so that middle of clearance is on optical axis of laser source, and element changing direction of radiation of beam central part is higher-mounted on bracket installed on one of walls of optical chamber. According to second design version of proposed device diverging system is made in form of optically transparent plate to surface of which holographic diffraction grating is applied providing scattering of laser radiation in one plane and singling out central and peripheral beams of different intensity, and element changing direction of radiation of beam central part is hinge-mounted on one of walls of optical chamber on bracket. EFFECT: improved accuracy of lighting device checking, increased capacity at checking. 4 cl, 12 dwg
