FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed hood of internal combustion engine contains carrying decorative panel made of rigid dense polymeric material and provided with inner stiffening ribs and supports for detachable threaded members fastening hood to base parts of engine. It has also porous sound-absorbing layer made of formed fibrous or foam material placed inside panel and being in contact with tips of stiffening ribs. Hood is furnished additionally with at least one gasket made of dense viscoelastic noise-and-vibration damping material placed in closed space limited by stiffening ribs with possibility of tight contact with stiffening ribs and inner plane of hood carrying panel. Thickness of gasket is equal to height of stiffening ribs, and surface of sound-absorbing layer is in direct contact with gasket. It is expedient to provide ratio of thicknesses of porous sound-absorbing layer and gasket equal to ≥5, material loss factor equal to μ≥0,1 and ratio of rib height to hood panel thickness equal to ≥0,5/ different design version of gasket mounting can be used. For instance, gasket can be mounted using sticky glue joint or by means of thermoadhesive substance. In other version, tops of stiffening ribs are provided with stops stationary holding the gaskets in closed spaces formed by stiffening ribs. Outer surface of porous sound-absorbing layer can be lined with thin sound-transmitting protective film, for instance, thin sound-transmitting aluminized foil or urethane film.
