FIELD: maintenance and repairs of internal-combustion engines; methods and liquids for cleaning spark plugs. SUBSTANCE: method involves cleaning of spark plugs in ultrasonic field of 1-1.5 W/sq. cm intensity at frequency of 22 kHz and temperature of 20-25 C sequentially in two solutions, first in alkali solution for 30-35 min and then in acid solution for 2.5-3 min. Alkali solution has in its composition 200- 250 g/l of caustic soda and up to 1 l of water; acid solution has following composition, mass percent: hydrochloric acid, 13-14; nitric acid, 11-12; sulfuric acid, 7-8; water, the rest.
