FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: zirconium-clad fuel elements mainly used for reactors RBMK, VVER-1000, and VVER- 440 are heated in hot water to 70-90 C and subjected to at least four-fold sequential ultrasonic treatment in water heated to 70-90 C within magnetostriction transducers installed in pairs. Fuel elements are anodized in alkali solution at anodizing current of 9-18 A, voltage of 30-50 V and electrolyte temperature not over 40 C; upon anodizing, fuel elements are rinsed in demineralized water using at least two-fold sequential ultrasonic treatment in water within magnetostriction transducers and then dried out with dry air heated to 80-120 C.
