METHOD FOR PREPARING RARE-EARTH ELEMENT TANTALATES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of tantalates of rare-earth metals scandium or yttrium of formulas MTaO₄ or M₃TaO₇ where M means rare- -earth metals scandium or yttrium. Method for preparing involves homogenization of mixture of the parent rare-earth element scandium or yttrium oxide and tantalum oxide taken in stoichiometric ratio by mechanical treatment. Mechanical treatment is carried out in a mixer with planetary drum moving. Hardness of material of working members is 3 or above by Mohs hardness scale, rotation frequency is 10-17 c^-1 and then thermal treatment is carried out at temperature 840-1 000 C. Synthesized compounds can be used as X-ray contrast substances, luminophores, materials used in electronics and so on.
