FIELD: electroplating processes. SUBSTANCE: conversion of electroplating sludge into catalyst is preceded by treatment of crude material, preparation of molding paste, molding, and final heat treatment at 500-550 C. In particular, sludge containing 40-45% F2O3, 10-15% CuO, and 5-10% Cr2O3 is preliminarily activated at 120 to 550 C and further activated mechanochemically by grinding on ball mill to particle size 0.5 to 5 mcm. Paste is prepared with liquefied natural clay and then dried to moisture 26-28%. Molding is accomplished by extruding cutting-shaped or cellular-structure product that can be used as catalyst in the process of ammonia-mediated selective reduction of nitrogen oxides.
